Role: Cryo Support / Cryo Buffer
Best For: Players who want a specialized support who significantly increases Cryo damage while also reducing enemy Cryo and Physical RES.
1. Recommended Artifacts
4-Piece Noblesse Oblige — Recommended for general Shenhe teams because her Elemental Burst can activate the teamwide ATK buff while also increasing her own ATK.
Alternative: 2-Piece ATK% + 2-Piece ATK% is useful when another teammate already uses Noblesse Oblige, while 4-Piece Scroll of the Hero of Cinder City can be situationally useful when no Natlan teammate is using it.
2. Recommended Weapons
Premium: Calamity Queller
Alternatives: Engulfing Lightning, Skyward Spine, Wavebreaker’s Fin
F2P: Favonius Lance
Calamity Queller provides extremely high Base ATK and additional ATK, directly strengthening Shenhe’s Icy Quill buff. Favonius Lance is an excellent accessible option because it helps solve Shenhe’s Energy requirements while also generating Energy for her teammates.
3. Recommended Teams
Ayaka Freeze: Kamisato Ayaka + Shenhe + Furina + Escoffier
Ganyu Freeze: Ganyu + Shenhe + Furina + Escoffier
Wriothesley: Wriothesley + Shenhe + Furina + Escoffier
Shenhe works best alongside characters who deal frequent Cryo damage because each teammate can independently trigger her Icy Quill bonus. Her Burst also reduces enemy Cryo and Physical RES, providing another source of team damage amplification.
4. Main Stats / Substats
Sands: ATK% / Energy Recharge
Goblet: ATK%
Circlet: ATK% / CRIT Rate with Favonius
Priority: Energy Recharge until needed → ATK% → CRIT Rate with Favonius
Shenhe’s Icy Quill scales with her current ATK, so stacking ATK after meeting her Energy requirements directly improves her Cryo buff. In Double Cryo teams, her Energy needs can still be relatively high, making an Energy Recharge Sands useful depending on her weapon and teammates.
5. Playstyle
Use Shenhe’s Elemental Skill to activate Icy Quill, then use her Burst to create a field that deals off-field Cryo damage and reduces enemy Cryo and Physical RES before switching to your main damage dealer.
Her Tap Skill also buffs Elemental Skill and Burst damage, making it particularly useful with characters such as Ayaka and Escoffier. Hold Skill instead buffs Normal, Charged, and Plunging Attack damage, making it better suited to characters such as Wriothesley.
6. F2P
Shenhe does not require Calamity Queller to provide strong Cryo support. Favonius Lance is one of her most practical weapons because it provides Energy Recharge and generates additional particles for the entire team.
F2P players should prioritize enough Energy Recharge for consistent Burst usage, then stack ATK% to strengthen Icy Quill. Shenhe does not require an expensive CRIT-focused build when used primarily as a Cryo support.
*StoryBillion Tip: Shenhe’s Tap and Hold Skills provide different team buffs. Use Tap when your Cryo carry relies heavily on Skill or Burst damage, but consider Hold when supporting Normal, Charged, or Plunging Attack-focused characters such as Wriothesley.
