Role: Off-Field Cryo DPS / Cryo Battery
Best For: Players who want an accessible Cryo character who can provide consistent off-field damage, Cryo application, and Energy for Cryo teammates.
1. Recommended Artifacts
4-Piece Blizzard Strayer — Recommended for Kaeya’s personal damage in Freeze teams because it provides a large amount of CRIT Rate against Cryo-affected and Frozen enemies.
Alternative: 4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate is a strong general option and works especially well in Reverse Melt teams, while 4-Piece Noblesse Oblige can be used when Kaeya is primarily supporting the team.
2. Recommended Weapons
Premium: Mistsplitter Reforged / Primordial Jade Cutter
Alternatives: Wolf-Fang, Favonius Sword
F2P: Moonweaver’s Dawn / Iron Sting
Mistsplitter Reforged is particularly strong for Freeze and Mono Cryo, while Primordial Jade Cutter performs extremely well in Reverse Melt. Favonius Sword is a useful support option because it helps both Kaeya and his teammates meet their Energy requirements.

Freeze: Kaeya + Furina + Shenhe + Escoffier
Reverse Melt: Kaeya + Rosaria + Xiangling + Bennett
Mono Cryo: Kaeya + Shenhe + Rosaria + Xilonen
Kaeya works particularly well as a quickswap character because his Skill has a short cooldown and generates useful Cryo particles. His Burst follows the active character, allowing Kaeya to continue applying Cryo and dealing damage after switching out.

Sands: ATK% / Energy Recharge / Elemental Mastery for Melt
Goblet: Cryo DMG Bonus
Circlet: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
Priority: Energy Recharge until needed → CRIT → ATK% → Elemental Mastery in Melt
Kaeya’s Energy requirements vary significantly depending on the number of Cryo teammates and how often he uses his Skill. Freeze teams can reduce his Energy needs considerably because his Skill generates additional particles when hitting Frozen enemies.
5. Playstyle
Use Kaeya’s Elemental Skill to deal Cryo damage and generate particles, then activate his Elemental Burst before switching to another character. His Burst creates icicles that rotate around the active character and continuously deal Cryo damage to nearby enemies.
Kaeya’s Burst contributes most of his off-field damage, so prioritize leveling his Burst first, followed by his Skill. Normal Attacks generally do not need investment for his standard off-field playstyle.
6. F2P
Kaeya is one of the most accessible Cryo characters because he is obtained for free early in the game and does not require a premium weapon to perform his main role.
Moonweaver’s Dawn is a freely obtainable option that performs well in Reverse Melt, while Iron Sting provides a craftable Elemental Mastery option. Favonius Sword is also excellent if available, especially when Kaeya is being used as a battery or support.
*StoryBillion Tip: Kaeya’s Elemental Skill generates extra Cryo particles when it hits Frozen enemies through his Ascension Passive. In Freeze teams, using his Skill regularly can make him an excellent battery for Energy-hungry Cryo teammates.
