Using the Artifact Strongbox can be a convenient way to turn unwanted 5-star Artifacts into pieces from a set you actually want.
But if you have a large Artifact inventory, selecting fodder one piece at a time can make the process unnecessarily slow.
Instead of individually clicking every Artifact, you can use the Strongbox’s selection tools to choose unwanted Artifacts more efficiently.
Open the Artifact Strongbox
Go to an Alchemy Crafting Bench and open the Artifact Strongbox.
Choose the Artifact set you want to receive.
You’ll then be able to select eligible 5-star Artifacts from your inventory to exchange for new pieces from the chosen set.
Before selecting anything, make sure you’re looking at Artifacts you genuinely don’t want to keep.
Use the Auto Add Feature
The quickest way to fill the Strongbox is to use Auto Add.
Instead of manually selecting every Artifact, Auto Add can automatically choose eligible Artifacts based on the available selection settings.
This is particularly useful when you already have a large number of unwanted pieces and don’t want to scroll through your inventory selecting them individually.
Before confirming the exchange, review what has been selected.
Adjust Your Selection Settings First
Auto Add becomes much safer when you configure which types of Artifacts it is allowed to select.
Use the available filtering or selection options to control which Artifacts are considered for the Strongbox.
This helps reduce the chance of accidentally including something you intended to keep.
Even with filters configured, it’s still worth checking the selected Artifacts before completing the exchange.
Lock Good Artifacts Before Using the Strongbox
One of the easiest ways to protect valuable Artifacts is to lock them when you obtain them.
Locked Artifacts can’t be casually consumed as fodder, which makes inventory management much easier later.
Consider locking an Artifact if it has:
- A useful main stat
- Several promising substats
- A rare stat combination
- Potential for a character you may build later
- Value for a set you don’t currently need but may use in the future
You can always unlock an Artifact later if you decide you no longer need it.
Use Artifact Locking Rules to Save Time
If you regularly farm Artifacts, manually evaluating and locking every promising piece can become tedious.
Genshin Impact includes Artifact Lock Assistance, which lets you create rules that can automatically lock Artifacts matching criteria you care about.
For example, you can create rules based on useful main stats and substats for a particular Artifact set.
This can make Strongbox sessions much easier because many potentially valuable pieces have already been protected before you start selecting fodder.
Review Everything Before You Exchange It
Speed is useful, but the Artifact Strongbox permanently consumes the Artifacts you submit.
Before confirming the exchange, take a final look at the selected pieces.
Pay particular attention to Artifacts with unusual or potentially valuable combinations, even if you don’t currently have a character who needs them.
Artifact requirements can change as you build new characters, and a piece that looks unnecessary today may become useful later.
Don’t Use Every Unwanted Artifact Immediately
Just because an Artifact isn’t useful for your current characters doesn’t automatically mean it should go into the Strongbox.
Some pieces are worth keeping because they have uncommon main stats or promising substats.
Others may be useful as Artifact EXP instead.
The Strongbox is most useful when you’re converting pieces you’ve already decided you don’t need—not when you’re quickly clearing everything that doesn’t fit your current build.
A Faster Artifact Strongbox Routine
If you use the Strongbox frequently, a simple routine can save a lot of time:
- Lock promising Artifacts while farming.
- Use Artifact Lock Assistance if you have consistent stat preferences.
- Open the Artifact Strongbox.
- Choose the set you want.
- Use Auto Add or the available selection tools.
- Review the selected Artifacts.
- Remove anything you’re unsure about.
- Confirm the exchange.
Doing most of the sorting before opening the Strongbox makes the actual exchange much faster.
Quick Tip
The fastest Artifact Strongbox workflow isn’t simply selecting Artifacts faster.
It’s protecting valuable Artifacts first, then letting the Strongbox selection tools handle the pieces you’ve already decided you don’t need.
That way, you can spend less time clicking through your inventory while still checking what you’re about to exchange.
