Role: Off-Field Pyro DPS / Flexible Support
Best For: Players who want a flexible off-field Pyro character that can either support reaction-based teams or focus more heavily on his own Burst damage.
1. Recommended Artifacts
4-Piece A Day Carved from Rising Winds — Recommended for Durin when focusing on his personal Burst damage, making it a strong general choice for his damage-oriented playstyle.
Alternative: 4-Piece Noblesse Oblige is useful when Durin is primarily being used as a support, allowing his Elemental Burst to provide an additional teamwide ATK buff.
Durin’s artifact choice can depend on which of his two forms you use most often. A damage-focused set suits his Dark Form better, while support-oriented sets can provide more team value when using White Form.
2. Recommended Weapons
Premium: Athame Artis
Alternatives: Primordial Jade Cutter, Mistsplitter Reforged, Wolf-Fang
F2P: Finale of the Deep
Athame Artis is Durin’s signature weapon and directly complements his Burst-focused kit. However, Durin has several viable Sword options because CRIT, ATK, and Burst-related bonuses can all contribute to his personal damage.
F2P players can use Finale of the Deep as an accessible ATK-focused option, while existing strong CRIT Swords can reduce the need to obtain his signature weapon.
3. Recommended Teams
Overloaded: Arlecchino + Durin + Fischl + Chevreuse
Burning: Kinich + Durin + Emilie + Bennett
Geo Support: Navia + Durin + Albedo + Bennett
Durin’s White Form is particularly useful in teams built around Burning, Overloaded, Pyro Swirl, and Pyro Crystallize. In this state, his Burst provides off-field Pyro damage while reducing enemy RES for Pyro and elements involved in those reactions.
He also benefits from having another Hexerei character in the party because his Hexerei Passive strengthens the effects associated with his two forms. This makes characters such as Fischl particularly natural partners in appropriate teams.
4. Main Stats / Substats
Sands: ATK% / Elemental Mastery
Goblet: Pyro DMG Bonus
Circlet: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
Priority: CRIT → ATK% → Elemental Mastery → Energy Recharge as needed
Durin’s stat priorities depend somewhat on his role. ATK and CRIT are valuable for improving his personal Burst damage, while Elemental Mastery becomes more useful when he is responsible for triggering reactions.
His Energy requirements are also less demanding than his Burst cost might initially suggest. Durin’s Elemental Skill can restore Energy to himself when entering one of his states, significantly reducing the amount of Energy Recharge he may need.
5. Playstyle
Durin’s main mechanic is choosing between two different states before using his Elemental Burst.
For his support-oriented White Form, use his Elemental Skill twice. His Burst then deals periodic AoE Pyro damage from off-field and can reduce enemy resistance to Pyro and elements involved in several Pyro-related reactions.
For his damage-oriented Dark Form, use his Elemental Skill followed by a Normal Attack. His Burst then focuses more heavily on single-target off-field Pyro damage, while Durin gains increased Melt and Vaporize damage.
Because the two forms serve different purposes, decide which one your team needs before completing Durin’s setup rather than simply using the same rotation in every team.
6. F2P
Durin does not require Athame Artis to perform his main role. Finale of the Deep provides an accessible weapon option, and his flexible kit allows him to contribute even when his personal damage is not maximized.
F2P players can get considerable value from using Durin primarily as an off-field support, where his Pyro application and resistance reduction can benefit the team without requiring premium weapon investment.
His Elemental Burst should receive the highest talent priority because it provides the majority of his personal damage and is central to both of his main playstyles.
*StoryBillion Tip: Before using Durin’s Burst, decide what you actually want him to do. Skill → Skill prepares his support-oriented White Form, while Skill → Normal Attack prepares his damage-oriented Dark Form. Choosing the wrong form can change both Durin’s damage and what he provides to the rest of the team.
