Role: On-Field Pyro DPS / Reaction DPS
Best For: Players who want a straightforward Pyro DPS with flexible combos, reliable elemental reactions, and several accessible team options.
1. Recommended Artifacts
4-Piece Crimson Witch of Flames — Recommended for Diluc because he can repeatedly use his Elemental Skill to take advantage of the set’s Pyro and reaction-related bonuses. It is especially well suited to Vaporize and Melt teams.
Alternative: 4-Piece Gilded Dreams can be useful in reaction-focused teams, while combinations of 2-Piece Pyro DMG, Elemental Mastery, or ATK sets can work while you are still building a complete set.
2. Recommended Weapons
Premium: Beacon of the Reed Sea, Wolf’s Gravestone
Alternatives: Serpent Spine, Rainslasher, Redhorn Stonethresher
F2P: Prototype Archaic
Diluc can make good use of both CRIT-focused and ATK-focused Claymores. Reaction teams also make Elemental Mastery weapons such as Rainslasher more valuable, particularly when Diluc consistently triggers Vaporize.
Prototype Archaic remains an accessible craftable choice for players who do not have stronger limited or Battle Pass weapons.
3. Recommended Teams
Vaporize: Diluc + Xingqiu + Bennett + Kazuha
Double Hydro: Diluc + Xingqiu + Yelan + Bennett
Melt: Diluc + Kaeya + Kazuha + Bennett
Vaporize is one of the most natural ways to build around Diluc. Off-field Hydro application from Xingqiu or Yelan allows many of his Pyro attacks to trigger Vaporize while he remains on the field.
Bennett provides healing, an ATK buff, and Pyro Resonance, while an Anemo support such as Kazuha can improve the team’s Pyro damage and reduce enemy Pyro resistance with Viridescent Venerer. Melt teams are another option when reliable Cryo application is available.
4. Main Stats / Substats
Sands: ATK% / Elemental Mastery
Goblet: Pyro DMG Bonus
Circlet: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
Priority: CRIT → Elemental Mastery / ATK% → Energy Recharge
ATK% is a reliable general Sands choice, while Elemental Mastery becomes more valuable when Diluc regularly triggers Vaporize or Melt. Choose between CRIT Rate and CRIT DMG based on whichever gives you a better overall CRIT balance.
Diluc generally does not require large amounts of Energy Recharge because his Elemental Burst has a relatively low Energy cost.
5. Playstyle
Diluc’s combat revolves around combining Normal Attacks with the three separate hits of his Elemental Skill rather than using all three Skill attacks immediately.
After using his Elemental Burst, Diluc’s Normal Attacks become infused with Pyro. You can then alternate Normal Attacks and Elemental Skill hits to maintain consistent Pyro damage while triggering reactions from off-field teammates.
A typical sequence can weave Normal Attacks between each Skill hit instead of treating his Skill as a single three-hit combo. This makes his gameplay relatively easy to understand while still rewarding good reaction timing and team rotations.
6. F2P
Diluc is relatively approachable for F2P players because he has useful craftable weapons and does not require a specific limited 5-star weapon to perform his role.
Prototype Archaic provides a simple craftable option, and accessible teammates such as Bennett, Xingqiu, and Kaeya can support several of his common team styles.
For players building Diluc without premium equipment, prioritize a solid Crimson Witch of Flames set and balanced CRIT stats before worrying about upgrading to a 5-star Claymore.
*StoryBillion Tip: Diluc’s Elemental Skill can be used three times in succession, but you do not have to press it three times immediately. Weaving Normal Attacks between each Skill hit lets you take advantage of his flexible combo structure and can make reaction timing easier to control.
