Energy Recharge makes it easier to refill an Elemental Burst, but does it increase every type of Energy you receive?
For example, if an ability directly restores 15 Energy and your character has 200% Energy Recharge, will that character receive 30 Energy instead?
No. Energy Recharge does not automatically increase direct Energy restoration.
Energy Recharge increases the Energy a character gains from Elemental Particles and Elemental Orbs. Effects that directly restore a fixed amount of Energy can follow different rules and are generally not multiplied by the character’s Energy Recharge.
This distinction matters because two effects can both help refill a Burst while interacting with Energy Recharge very differently.
What Is Direct Energy Restoration?
Most players become familiar with Energy through Elemental Particles.
You use a Skill, particles appear, and your characters gain Energy when those particles are collected.
But particles and orbs are not the only way to restore Energy.
Some character abilities, weapon effects, and other mechanics can restore Energy directly.
Instead of creating a particle that travels toward the active character, the effect may simply add a specified amount of Energy to a character.
That distinction matters because direct Energy restoration is not necessarily calculated using the same rules as particle and orb Energy.

Does Energy Recharge Increase Direct Energy Restoration?
Generally, no.
If an effect directly restores a fixed amount of Energy, you should not assume your ER multiplies that amount.
For example, suppose an effect directly restores:
15 Energy
to a character.
If that character has:
200% Energy Recharge
that does not automatically mean the effect becomes:
30 Energy
The amount specified by the direct restoration effect remains separate from the character’s normal ER multiplier for particles and orbs unless the particular mechanic explicitly works differently.
This is one of the reasons the phrase “restores Energy” should not automatically be treated as identical to “generates Energy Particles.”
Why Does Energy Recharge Work Differently With Particles?
Energy Recharge is designed to modify the Energy a character gains from Elemental Particles and Orbs.
With particles, several factors can matter, including:
- The receiving character’s Energy Recharge
- Whether the particle matches the character’s element
- Whether the character is on-field or off-field
- Party size
That gives the game a calculation for how much Energy each character receives from the particle.
Direct Energy restoration can bypass that particle calculation.
Instead of:
Particle → Energy conversion → ER multiplier
the effect can simply provide:
Fixed Energy restoration
That is why increasing ER does not necessarily change the result.
Example: Particle Energy vs Direct Energy
Consider a character with 200% Energy Recharge.
Situation A: Elemental Particle
The character receives Energy from an Elemental Particle.
Because particle Energy is affected by ER, the character’s 200% Energy Recharge increases the Energy gained from that particle.
Situation B: Direct Energy Restoration
An effect says that it restores 15 Energy directly.
The character receives the amount specified by that effect.
Their 200% ER does not automatically turn that 15 Energy into 30.
Both situations fill the Burst gauge.
But they reach that result through different Energy mechanics.
Does Direct Energy Restoration Generate Particles?
Not necessarily.
If an ability directly restores Energy, you may not see any Energy Particle appear at all.
That is another useful way to distinguish the mechanics.
Particle-generating effect
The effect creates a particle or orb that can interact with the normal particle Energy system.
Direct Energy-restoring effect
The effect adds Energy according to its own conditions without necessarily creating a collectible particle.
This distinction also matters for the rest of the party.
A generated particle can provide Energy according to the game’s particle mechanics.
A direct restoration effect may instead specify exactly which character or characters receive the Energy.
Does Direct Energy Restoration Give Energy to the Whole Team?
Only if the effect says or functions that way.
You should not assume that direct Energy restoration automatically applies to every party member.
Some effects may restore Energy only to:
- The character using the ability
- A particular teammate
- Characters of a particular element
- Multiple party members
- Characters meeting another specific condition
The exact effect matters.
This differs from collecting an Elemental Particle or Orb, where party members can receive Energy according to the normal Energy-distribution rules.
So when evaluating an Energy-restoring ability, check who actually receives the Energy, not just how much Energy the effect mentions.
Does Being Off-Field Reduce Direct Energy Restoration?
Not automatically.
The reduced off-field Energy rate associated with Elemental Particles and Orbs should not be assumed to apply to every direct Energy-restoration effect.
For particles and orbs, an off-field character receives less base Energy than the active character in a normal four-character party.
Direct restoration can follow the specific rules of the effect instead.
So if an ability directly restores a fixed amount of Energy to an off-field character, you should not automatically reduce that amount using the normal off-field particle multiplier.

Does the Element of the Character Matter for Direct Energy Restoration?
Not in the same way it does for Elemental Particles.
With particles, elemental matching is important.
A character receives more Energy from a particle matching their own element than from a particle belonging to another element.
A direct Energy-restoration effect does not automatically use that same elemental conversion system.
If an effect directly gives a character a fixed amount of Energy, there may be no Pyro, Hydro, Electro, or other particle to match in the first place.
However, the ability itself can still include elemental or character-specific restrictions.
Again, the wording and mechanics of the particular effect matter.
What About Favonius Weapons?
Favonius weapons are not the same as direct Energy restoration.
Their passive can generate additional particles when its conditions are met.
Because actual particles are generated, they interact with the particle Energy system.
That means the receiving character’s Energy Recharge can affect the Energy gained from those particles.
This is very different from an effect that simply says a character restores a fixed amount of Energy.
So:
Favonius → generates particles
while:
Direct restoration → directly adds Energy according to the effect
Both can help your Burst, but they should not be treated as the same mechanic.
What About Energy From Elemental Skills?
An Elemental Skill can generate particles, but the character’s ER does not normally determine how many particles that Skill generates.
Once those particles provide Energy, however, the receiving character’s ER becomes relevant.
That gives us another useful distinction:
Generating particles
→ determined by the Energy-generating ability or effect.
Receiving Energy from particles
→ affected by the receiving character’s ER.
Receiving direct fixed Energy
→ not automatically multiplied by ER.

Can High ER Still Be Useful With Direct Energy Restoration?
Absolutely.
A character can benefit from both systems at the same time.
Suppose a character receives:
- Energy from Elemental Particles
- Additional direct Energy from another effect
Their ER can improve the particle-based portion of their Energy income even if it does not multiply the direct restoration.
So direct Energy restoration does not make ER useless.
Instead, the character may be getting Energy through two separate channels:
Particle Energy affected by ER
plus:
Direct Energy restoration not automatically multiplied by ER
Together, those sources may make it much easier to maintain Burst uptime.
Why Can This Make ER Requirements Hard to Compare?
Because two teams can provide very different kinds of Energy support.
Imagine Character A and Character B both have expensive Bursts.
Character A’s team relies mostly on Elemental Particles.
Character B’s team receives particles plus a reliable source of direct Energy restoration.
Even if the two characters have similar Burst costs, they may not require the same ER.
This is one reason copying an ER target from another team without considering its Energy sources can produce poor results.
ER requirements depend on more than the Burst’s Energy Cost.
You also need to consider where the Energy is actually coming from.
Why Isn’t My ER Increasing the Energy From an Ability?
First determine what the ability is actually providing.
Ask:
Does the effect generate Elemental Particles or Orbs?
or:
Does it directly restore a stated amount of Energy?
If it generates particles or orbs, the receiving character’s ER can affect the Energy gained from them.
If it restores Energy directly, increasing ER may not change that amount.
So an unchanged Energy restoration value does not necessarily mean your ER is broken or failing to work.
You may simply be looking at an Energy source that ER does not multiply.
Does 200% ER Double All Energy You Receive?
No.
This is probably the easiest misconception to take away from this article.
200% Energy Recharge does not mean every source of Energy in the game is doubled.
It can double the relevant Energy gain from particles and orbs compared with the character’s 100% ER baseline, but you cannot apply that multiplier blindly to every effect that restores Energy.
If an ability provides direct Energy, its own mechanics determine how that Energy is awarded.
So avoid thinking of ER as:
“All Energy × ER.”
Think of it more specifically as a stat that modifies particle and orb Energy gain.
Could This Be Why My Burst Is Still Not Ready?
Potentially.
If you calculated your Energy needs while assuming that ER multiplies a direct Energy-restoration effect, you may have overestimated how much Energy your character actually receives.
For example, you might expect:
15 direct Energy × 200% ER = 30 Energy
when the actual direct restoration remains:
15 Energy
That difference can leave your Burst short of what you expected.
But if your Burst problems continue, direct restoration is only one thing to check.
Particle generation, elemental matching, on-field collection, battery performance, and rotation can all matter too.

“Does this give Energy?”
It is:
“How does this effect give Energy?”
So, Does Energy Recharge Affect Direct Energy Restoration?
Generally, no.
Energy Recharge increases the Energy a character gains from Elemental Particles and Orbs, but it does not automatically multiply a fixed amount of Energy restored directly by another effect.
That means a character with 200% ER should not assume that an effect restoring 15 Energy will suddenly restore 30.
When evaluating an Energy source, determine whether it:
- Generates Elemental Particles or Orbs
- Directly restores Energy
- Targets one character or multiple characters
- Has its own conditions or restrictions
The simplest rule to remember is:
Energy Recharge improves Energy gained from particles and orbs. It does not automatically multiply every effect that restores Energy.
