Energy Recharge is one of the most important stats for characters that rely on their Elemental Burst. But its name can make the stat a little misleading.
If a character has more Energy Recharge, does that mean their Elemental Skill generates more Energy Particles for the team?
No. Increasing Energy Recharge does not normally increase the number of Energy Particles a character generates.
Energy Recharge affects how much Energy a character gains from Elemental Particles and Orbs. It does not make a normal Skill produce additional particles simply because the character has more ER.
This distinction is especially important when building battery characters or trying to solve a team’s Energy problems.
What Does Energy Recharge Actually Increase?
Energy Recharge increases the Energy a character gains when they receive Elemental Particles or Orbs.
Every character starts with a base Energy Recharge value of 100%.
Increasing that value means the character can gain more Energy from the same particle or orb than they would at 100% ER.
For example, if you increase a character’s Energy Recharge without changing anything else about the team, that character can recharge their own Burst more efficiently from the Energy they receive.
But the important words are:
the Energy they receive.
Energy Recharge does not automatically create a new source of Energy.

Does 200% Energy Recharge Generate Twice as Many Particles?
No.
A character with 200% Energy Recharge does not automatically generate twice as many particles as the same character with 100% Energy Recharge.
Imagine a Skill generates a certain number of particles when its normal particle-generation conditions are met.
Changing the character from:
100% ER
to:
200% ER
does not simply double that Skill’s particle output.
The character with higher ER can gain more Energy when receiving particles, but that is different from generating more particles.
This is the central distinction:
Particle generation = how Energy sources are produced.
Energy Recharge = how efficiently a character gains Energy from particles and orbs they receive.
Why Do Players Confuse Energy Recharge With Particle Generation?
Because both mechanics ultimately affect how quickly an Elemental Burst becomes available.
Suppose you increase a character’s ER and suddenly their Burst becomes ready much more consistently.
It can feel as though that character is now generating more Energy.
But what may actually be happening is:
- The team generates the same particles as before.
- The character receives those particles.
- Their higher ER increases the Energy they gain from them.
- Their Burst fills faster.
The result is better Burst uptime.
The particle generation itself did not necessarily change.
This difference becomes much more important when you start thinking about batteries and team-wide Energy.
Does a Battery Generate More Energy for Teammates With Higher ER?
Not simply because its ER increased.
Suppose Character A is your battery and Character B needs help recharging a Burst.
Character A uses a Skill and generates particles.
If you increase Character A from 120% ER to 200% ER while leaving the Skill, weapon, rotation, and other Energy-generating effects unchanged, Character A’s higher ER does not automatically make those particles more powerful for Character B.
Character B receives Energy according to Character B’s own Energy Recharge and the relevant Energy mechanics.
This is why stacking ER on a battery is not automatically a way to improve another character’s Burst uptime.

What Determines How Many Particles a Character Generates?
Particle generation depends on the specific ability or effect generating the particles, rather than the character’s ER stat by itself.
Elemental Skills are a common source, but different characters can behave differently.
Depending on the character or ability, particle generation can involve things such as:
- Successfully using or hitting with an Elemental Skill
- The Skill’s own particle-generation behavior
- Skill cooldowns
- Special conditions attached to an ability
- Additional effects from weapons or other mechanics
This is why you should not assume every Elemental Skill produces the same number of particles or generates them in exactly the same way.
When evaluating a character as a battery, the character’s actual Energy-generating mechanics matter more than simply looking at their ER percentage.
Does Leveling an Elemental Skill Increase Its Particle Generation?
Not automatically.
Increasing a Skill’s Talent Level generally improves the values specifically tied to leveling that Talent, such as its damage or other listed scaling.
You should not assume that raising a Skill from one Talent Level to another will cause it to generate additional Energy Particles.
Particle generation is a separate mechanic.
If a particular character has unusual Energy-generation behavior, that should be checked for that specific character rather than assuming Talent Level controls it.
So leveling a Skill purely because you expect:
higher Talent Level = more Energy Particles
is not a reliable approach.
Does More ATK, CRIT, or Elemental Mastery Generate More Particles?
Normally, increasing offensive stats does not directly make a standard Elemental Skill generate additional particles either.
Stats such as:
- ATK
- CRIT Rate
- CRIT DMG
- Elemental Mastery
serve other purposes.
Doing more damage with a Skill does not normally mean the Skill creates more particles simply because the damage number became larger.
There can be separate weapon, character, or combat mechanics that create additional Energy under specific conditions, but that is different from ordinary particle generation scaling with offensive stats.
This is another useful reason to think of Energy generation as its own part of a build.
What About Favonius Weapons?
Favonius weapons demonstrate the difference particularly well.
Their passive can generate additional particles when its activation conditions are satisfied.
Those extra particles can help provide Energy to the team.
But that happens because of the weapon’s passive effect, not because the character has a high Energy Recharge stat.
So consider these two changes:
Change A: Increase a character’s Energy Recharge.
This improves that character’s Energy gain from Elemental Particles and Orbs.
Change B: Successfully trigger an effect that generates additional particles.
This creates another source of Energy for the party.
Both can improve Burst uptime, but they do so through different mechanics.
Does Sacrificial Give You More Particles?
Sacrificial weapons can also indirectly increase Energy generation in the right situation.
Their passive can reset an Elemental Skill’s cooldown when its conditions are met.
If that allows a character to use an Energy-generating Skill again, the extra Skill use may result in additional particles.
Again, this is not caused by Energy Recharge.
The sequence is instead:
Sacrificial effect → another Skill use → another opportunity to generate particles.
That is different from:
more ER → more particles per Skill.
Understanding that distinction helps explain why two builds with similar ER can still generate very different amounts of Energy for a team.
Can Shorter Skill Cooldowns Help Generate More Energy?
Potentially, yes.
If a character can use an Energy-generating Skill more frequently, they may have more opportunities to generate particles over the course of a fight.
This is one reason Energy generation should be evaluated across an actual rotation rather than from a single Skill use.
A character that produces useful particles frequently may be a better battery for a particular team than one that has a very high ER stat but generates particles less conveniently.
Again:
High ER does not necessarily mean high Energy generation.
Does the Element of the Particle Matter?
Yes.
The number of particles is not the only thing that matters.
A character receives more Energy from an Elemental Particle that matches their own element than from a particle of a different element.
This is one reason same-element batteries can be useful.
For example, if a character needs a large amount of Energy for their Burst, another character of the same element may be able to generate matching particles for them.
That advantage comes from the particle’s element and how Energy is received, not from the battery having unusually high ER.
Does It Matter Who Catches the Particles?
Yes.
The active character receives more Energy from collected particles than off-field party members.
Because particles take time to travel, you can sometimes use a Skill with one character and switch to another before the particles arrive.
This is commonly used to direct more Energy toward the character who needs it.
So if your team generates enough particles but one character still struggles to recharge, the problem may be who is receiving those particles, rather than how much ER the particle-generating character has.
Why Can a Character With Lower ER Be a Better Battery?
Because being a good battery and having high ER are not the same thing.
Imagine two characters.
Character A
- 220% Energy Recharge
- Generates particles infrequently
- Has a long Skill cooldown
Character B
- 150% Energy Recharge
- Generates useful particles reliably
- Can use their Skill frequently
- Shares an element with the character who needs Energy
Character A having the larger ER number does not automatically make them the better battery.
If Character B supplies the target character with more useful particles during the rotation, Character B may provide much better Energy support.
This is why judging batteries purely from the ER number on their stat screen can be misleading.
Why Is My Team Still Energy-Starved Even With High ER?
If several characters already have high Energy Recharge but their Bursts still are not consistently available, particle generation may be one of the things worth checking.
Possible problems include:
- Too few Energy-generating Skills are being used.
- Skills are being used too infrequently.
- Your battery is not generating the particles you expected.
- The character who needs Energy is not receiving the particles effectively.
- Most particles do not match the character’s element.
- Your rotation is missing opportunities to generate or funnel Energy.
- A Favonius effect is not triggering reliably.
- You are relying on high ER to compensate for very low Energy generation.

Should You Increase ER or Generate More Particles?
It depends on what is actually causing the Energy problem.
If your team generates plenty of useful particles but a character consistently falls slightly short of their Burst, increasing that character’s ER may solve the problem.
If the team generates very little Energy in the first place, more ER may not be the most efficient solution.
You may instead need:
- A better Energy battery
- More frequent Skill usage
- Better particle funneling
- Same-element particle generation
- Additional Energy-generating effects
- A more efficient rotation
In many teams, good Burst uptime comes from a combination of sufficient Energy generation and sufficient Energy Recharge.
They complement each other.
They do not replace each other.
Energy Recharge vs Energy Generation
Here is the easiest way to separate the two:

High ER but weak Energy generation
or:
Lower ER but strong Energy generation.
Those are not contradictory.
They describe two different parts of the Energy system.
So, Does Energy Recharge Increase the Energy Particles You Generate?
No. Energy Recharge does not normally increase the number of Energy Particles your character generates.
It increases the Energy that the character receives from Elemental Particles and Orbs.
If your goal is to generate more Energy for another character, look at the actual sources of Energy in your team:
- Which Skills generate particles
- How frequently those Skills can be used
- What element the particles are
- Who receives them
- Whether Favonius or similar effects create additional Energy
- Whether your rotation makes good use of those particles
The simplest rule to remember is:
Energy Recharge changes how efficiently a character receives Energy. It does not turn their normal Skills into stronger particle generators.
