Elemental Sight is easy to think of as a feature you only use when a quest tells you to follow a trail or investigate something.
But it can also be useful while exploring the open world.
When activated, Elemental Sight changes how certain objects and environmental elements appear, making some interactable or unusual objects easier to notice. If you feel like an area is hiding something, checking it with Elemental Sight can sometimes reveal what your normal view missed.
Use Elemental Sight When Something Looks Suspicious
If you find an unusual wall, pile of rocks, object, or part of the environment that looks like it might be hiding something, activate Elemental Sight and look around.
Certain objects that can be interacted with or affected by the player may stand out differently from the surrounding environment.
This doesn’t automatically reveal every secret nearby, but it can give you an extra clue when you’re not sure what you’re supposed to interact with.
Check Around Chests and Puzzle Areas
Elemental Sight can also be useful when you find a puzzle area but can’t immediately figure out what is missing.
Instead of only looking for obvious puzzle mechanisms, activate Elemental Sight and scan the surroundings.
Pay particular attention to:
- Unusual rocks or environmental objects
- Objects that look different from the surrounding terrain
- Nearby puzzle elements you may have overlooked
- Areas above or below your current position
- Objects partially hidden by the environment
Sometimes the important part of a puzzle is nearby rather than directly beside the chest or mechanism.
Use It When Exploring Ruins and Complicated Terrain
Elemental Sight becomes especially useful in places where the environment itself makes objects difficult to notice.
Ruins, caves, cliffs, vegetation, and areas with lots of environmental detail can make a small interactable object easy to overlook.
If you have already searched an area normally and still feel like something is missing, activate Elemental Sight and slowly scan around you before moving on.
It only takes a few seconds and may help you notice something that blended into the environment.
Elemental Sight Doesn’t Reveal Every Hidden Secret
Elemental Sight is useful, but it isn’t a universal secret detector.
Many chests, puzzles, hidden interactions, and exploration objectives only appear after you complete a specific action or meet certain conditions. Elemental Sight will not automatically reveal all of them.
So if nothing unusual appears, that doesn’t necessarily mean there is nothing hidden nearby.
You may still need to:
- Complete a nearby puzzle
- Defeat enemies
- Interact with another object
- Use a particular mechanic
- Approach the area from another direction
- Meet an exploration or quest condition
Think of Elemental Sight as an extra exploration tool, not a replacement for normal exploration.
Don’t Forget to Check Different Elevations
One of the easiest things to miss in Genshin Impact is vertical distance.
If Elemental Sight seems to highlight something but you can’t find a way to reach it, check whether the object could be above or below you.
Look for nearby:
- Cliffs
- Platforms
- Caves
- Underground passages
- Ruined structures
- Higher ledges
The open world often places exploration elements at different elevations even when they appear close together on the map.
Make Elemental Sight Part of Your Exploration Routine
You don’t need to walk around with Elemental Sight active constantly.
Instead, use it whenever something feels unusual or when you have already searched an area but think you may have missed something.
A quick scan can be particularly helpful around puzzles, ruins, caves, suspicious environmental objects, and other places where important details can blend into the scenery.
Elemental Sight can also help you find the direction of a missing Seelie when you discover an empty Seelie Court.
It’s a simple habit, but it gives you another way to inspect the world instead of relying only on what is immediately visible.
Quick Tip
When an area looks suspicious, stop for a moment and activate Elemental Sight before leaving.
It won’t uncover every secret in Genshin Impact, but it can make certain objects and environmental clues easier to notice—and sometimes that’s all you need to find what you missed.
