After the prologue, the Court system lets you work against the three vassals through activities associated with each of them.
Completing activities for one vassal raises that character’s Anger and eventually leads toward their confrontation.
Because those progressions are separate, you can choose which Court member you want to focus on rather than being required to finish Ambrus before you are allowed to work on Bakir or Xanthe.
What Is the Recommended Court Boss Order?
For most first playthroughs, the recommended order is Ambrus → Bakir → Xanthe.
This order follows the general difficulty progression of the three vassals.
Ambrus is the most natural first target and is accessible from early in the game. Bakir is better suited to a more developed Coen, while Xanthe is generally treated as the most difficult of the three Court bosses.
Current launch walkthroughs use approximately these progression points:
- Ambrus: Early game
- Bakir: Around level 20
- Xanthe: Around level 25
These should be treated as recommendations rather than mandatory level requirements. Your build, equipment, difficulty settings, and familiarity with combat can all affect when you are ready.
Can You Fight Xanthe Before Ambrus or Bakir?
Yes. The game does not require Ambrus and Bakir to be defeated before you begin pursuing Xanthe.
You can work on Xanthe’s Court progression independently, and Xanthe also has an unusual opportunity to be encountered earlier than her normal Anger progression might suggest.
The bigger problem is difficulty rather than a hard story restriction.
If you head toward Xanthe very early, Coen may have weaker equipment, fewer skills, and less combat experience than he would have after dealing with the other Court members first.

Can You Fight Bakir Before Ambrus?
Yes. You are not required to defeat Ambrus before pursuing Bakir.
If you discover Bakir’s activities and want to focus on his Court progression first, the game gives you that freedom.
However, Bakir is generally positioned as a tougher encounter than Ambrus.
Going after Ambrus first gives you more opportunities to gain experience, improve Coen’s build, find stronger equipment, and become more comfortable with the combat system before moving on to Bakir.
That is why Ambrus → Bakir remains the safer progression even though it is not a mandatory sequence.
Can You Work on Multiple Court Bosses at the Same Time?
Yes. You can complete Court Activities belonging to different vassals instead of focusing exclusively on one boss.
For example, you can complete some activities associated with Ambrus, move into another region and complete Bakir activities, and later return to Ambrus.
You do not lose your existing Anger progress simply because you begin working against another member of the Court.
However, concentrating on one vassal can be more efficient if your goal is to unlock the next boss confrontation quickly. Spreading your efforts across all three can leave several partially filled Anger tracks without immediately unlocking any of their boss quests.
Does Boss Order Change the 30-Day Time Limit?
Changing the boss order does not change the deadline itself, but your route can affect how efficiently you use your available time.
Court Activities consume Time Segments, so an inefficient route can use more of your 30-day window than necessary.
This means the freedom to choose your boss order can also be useful strategically.
If several activities for one Court member are conveniently located along your current route, completing them may make more sense than traveling across Vale Sangora simply because you are trying to follow a rigid boss order.

Do You Have to Defeat All Three Court Bosses Before Brencis?
Yes. In the normal main-story progression, Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe must all be dealt with before you can progress to Brencis.
This is where the freedom in boss order ends.
You can decide which of the three vassals to pursue first, second, or third, but Brencis remains the final major target of that Court progression.
Defeating the three vassals is what moves the campaign toward the confrontation with Brencis.

Does Fighting the Bosses Out of Order Lock You Out of Content?
Simply choosing a different order for Ambrus, Bakir, and Xanthe does not mean you have chosen the “wrong” progression.
The game is deliberately structured to give you freedom in how you work against Brencis’ Court.
However, individual quests and boss decisions can have their own consequences, so boss-order freedom should not be interpreted as meaning that every choice surrounding those bosses is consequence-free.
