Tartaglia

4-Piece Nymph’s Dream — The recommended set for Tartaglia. His Normal Attacks, Charged Attacks, Elemental Skill, and Burst can build the set’s stacks, increasing both ATK and Hydro DMG for his overall damage.

Alternative: 4-Piece Heart of Depth — A straightforward alternative that increases Hydro DMG and strengthens his Normal and Charged Attacks after using his Elemental Skill. Strong mixed 2-piece sets can also work well if they have better substats.

Premium: Polar Star
Alternatives: Aqua Simulacra, Skyward Harp, The Viridescent Hunt
F2P: Prototype Crescent

Polar Star is Tartaglia’s signature weapon and complements his varied damage sources with CRIT Rate and bonuses that can be activated through different attacks. Prototype Crescent is a craftable F2P option when its weak-point passive can be activated, although its effectiveness varies depending on the enemy.

International: Tartaglia + Xiangling + Bennett + Kazuha
Accessible Vaporize: Tartaglia + Xiangling + Bennett + Sucrose
Electro-Charged: Tartaglia + Fischl + Beidou + Bennett

Tartaglia’s rapid Hydro application makes the International team especially effective. He keeps Hydro on enemies while Xiangling’s Pyronado repeatedly triggers Vaporize, allowing both characters to contribute substantial damage.

Sands: ATK%
Goblet: Hydro DMG Bonus
Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG

Substats: Energy Recharge until requirement > CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG > ATK% > Elemental Mastery

Tartaglia generally uses a standard offensive build with ATK, Hydro DMG, and CRIT. Energy Recharge should be sufficient to use his Ranged Burst consistently, while Elemental Mastery becomes more valuable when his Burst is Vaporized.

Activate Tartaglia’s Elemental Skill to switch from his bow into his Hydro melee stance, then use fast Normal and Charged Attacks to apply Hydro and trigger Riptide. Against grouped enemies, repeated Riptide effects can make him particularly effective in multi-target combat.

Avoid staying in melee stance for too long. The longer Tartaglia remains in it, the longer his Elemental Skill cooldown becomes, so switching out after a controlled damage window keeps his rotation aligned with teammates such as Xiangling and Bennett.

Tartaglia does not require a 5-star weapon to perform his main role. Prototype Crescent is craftable and can provide strong ATK when its passive can be activated, while other available 4-star bows can also work depending on the account.

His classic Vaporize team is also relatively accessible because Xiangling and Bennett provide much of the team’s damage and support. Tartaglia’s main job is to apply Hydro rapidly while contributing his own damage, so learning the team’s rotation is often more important than obtaining premium equipment.
