Varesa

4-Piece Long Night’s Oath — Recommended for Varesa because she can easily build its stacks and gain a very large Plunging Attack DMG Bonus, directly strengthening her main source of damage.

Alternative: 4-Piece Obsidian Codex is a strong option that provides DMG Bonus and a large amount of CRIT Rate while Varesa is in Nightsoul’s Blessing. Mixed 2-piece sets can also be used while farming Long Night’s Oath.

Long Night’s Oath is generally the preferred choice because Varesa’s rotation naturally uses the Charged Attacks, Skills, and Plunging Attacks needed to activate its effects.

Premium: Vivid Notions
Alternatives: Kagura’s Verity, The Widsith, Lost Prayer to the Sacred Winds
F2P: Flowing Purity

Vivid Notions is Varesa’s signature weapon and is specifically designed around her Plunging Attack playstyle, providing CRIT DMG, ATK, and additional Plunging Attack CRIT DMG.

Kagura’s Verity provides strong CRIT DMG and works well with Varesa’s frequent Skill usage, while The Widsith can be a powerful 4-star alternative at higher refinements.

Flowing Purity is her strongest practical F2P option when she is played with a healer, making it a good choice for players who do not have a premium Catalyst.

Hypercarry: Varesa + Furina + Iansan + Xianyun
Overload: Varesa + Mavuika + Iansan + Chevreuse
Aggravate: Varesa + Nahida + Fischl + Xianyun

Varesa works especially well with supports that strengthen her personal Plunging Attack damage. Xianyun directly supports Plunging Attacks, while Iansan’s ATK buff is easy for Varesa to maintain because her gameplay naturally involves frequent movement.

She can also be played in Overload and Aggravate teams. Chevreuse enables strong Pyro-Electro support in Overload teams, while Dendro characters can allow Varesa’s Electro attacks to trigger Aggravate.

Sands: ATK%
Goblet: Electro DMG Bonus / ATK%
Circlet: CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG
Priority: Energy Recharge as needed → CRIT → ATK% → Elemental Mastery in Aggravate

Varesa primarily wants conventional DPS stats, with CRIT and ATK improving her powerful Plunging Attacks. Electro DMG Bonus is generally preferred for the Goblet, although ATK% can become competitive when she already receives large amounts of DMG Bonus from artifacts and teammates.

Her Energy requirements vary considerably depending on the team. A second Electro character such as Iansan or Fischl can reduce the amount of Energy Recharge she needs and make her Burst rotations easier to maintain.

Varesa’s gameplay revolves around using her Elemental Skill and Charged Attack to quickly launch herself into Plunging Attacks. These Plunges are her primary source of damage, while her unique Burst provides additional spikes of Electro damage.

Set up your teammates’ buffs and off-field abilities first, then switch to Varesa for her main damage sequence. Her short cooldowns allow her to repeatedly cycle between Skill, Charged Attack, Plunge, and Burst rather than relying on long Normal Attack combinations.

Because Varesa has flexible and relatively fast combos, she works particularly well with supports whose buffs can keep up with her repeated Plunging Attack windows.

Varesa can perform well without her signature weapon, although Vivid Notions has a noticeable advantage because its passive is specifically designed for her Plunging Attacks.

Flowing Purity is a craftable F2P Catalyst and works particularly well when Varesa’s team includes a healer. Players who already own The Widsith can also use it as a strong 4-star option, especially at higher refinements.

F2P players should prioritize a strong Long Night’s Oath set, balanced CRIT stats, and teammates who can consistently support Varesa’s Plunging Attack windows rather than treating her signature weapon as necessary.
