Yelan

4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate — The recommended artifact set for Yelan. Energy Recharge is important for keeping her Elemental Burst available, while the 4-piece effect converts part of that ER into additional Burst damage.

Alternative: 2-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate + 2-Piece HP% or Hydro DMG set — A usable option if you do not yet have a strong 4-piece Emblem set.

Most of Yelan’s off-field damage comes from her Elemental Burst, so Emblem of Severed Fate fits both her Energy needs and her main source of damage. A good 4-piece set is generally worth prioritizing over mixed sets once you can farm one with suitable stats.

Premium: Aqua Simulacra
Alternatives: Elegy for the End, Sacrificial Bow
F2P: Favonius Warbow

Aqua Simulacra is Yelan’s signature weapon and provides a large amount of CRIT DMG along with effects that complement her HP-based damage. It is an excellent choice when her Energy requirements are already covered by artifacts and teammates.

Favonius Warbow is one of Yelan’s most practical weapons despite being a 4-star option. Its large Energy Recharge stat makes maintaining her Burst much easier, while the additional particles can also help the rest of the team.

Double Hydro Vaporize: Hu Tao + Xingqiu + Yelan + Zhongli
Hyperbloom: Nahida + Yelan + Xingqiu + Kuki Shinobu
Alhaitham Hyperbloom: Alhaitham + Yelan + Nahida + Kuki Shinobu

Yelan fits into many teams because her Burst provides coordinated Hydro attacks whenever the active character uses Normal Attacks. This makes her especially useful for Vaporize, Hyperbloom, and other teams that benefit from continuous off-field Hydro application.

Her Burst also provides an increasing DMG Bonus to the active character while it remains active. This allows Yelan to contribute both her own off-field damage and offensive support to the character currently fighting on-field.

Sands: HP% or Energy Recharge
Goblet: Hydro DMG Bonus
Circlet: CRIT Rate or CRIT DMG

Substats: Energy Recharge until requirement > CRIT Rate / CRIT DMG > HP%

Yelan’s damage scales primarily with Max HP rather than ATK, so ATK% is not an important stat for her standard build. HP%, Hydro DMG, and CRIT should instead be used to improve her personal damage once her Energy requirements are satisfied.

The exact amount of Energy Recharge she needs varies considerably by team. Solo Hydro teams generally require more ER, while Double Hydro teams and additional Skill uses can reduce the requirement. Reliable Burst uptime should come before chasing higher CRIT numbers.

Use Yelan’s Elemental Skill to deal damage and generate Hydro particles, then activate her Elemental Burst before switching to the team’s main on-field character. Her Burst will continue launching coordinated Hydro attacks from off-field as the active character attacks.

Yelan requires relatively little field time, making her easy to fit into many rotations. Her Skill can also be held to move rapidly through enemies, which is useful both during combat and while exploring the open world.

Because her Burst is the core of her combat role, it should receive the highest Talent priority, followed by her Elemental Skill. Normal Attacks can usually remain at a low level for a standard off-field Yelan build.

Yelan is very F2P-friendly because Favonius Warbow provides exactly what many of her builds need: a large amount of Energy Recharge and additional particle generation. Her signature weapon is powerful, but it is not required for her to perform her main role effectively.

A C0 Yelan with Favonius Warbow and 4-Piece Emblem of Severed Fate can already provide strong off-field Hydro damage and application. Focus first on enough Energy Recharge for reliable rotations, then gradually improve her HP and CRIT stats.
