How Many Sword Shards Do You Need?
You need all three Sword Shards.
Each shard represents a missing part of St. Mihai’s broken weapon, and finding only one or two is not enough to complete Forge It Anew.
Before going to Nareh, you should have:

- Maragir Wealds Sword Shard
- Rockfalls Sword Shard
- St. Tyna’s Grove / The Silts Sword Shard
The shards can be collected in any order, so you do not have to follow the sequence above.
Where Is the Sword Shard in Maragir Wealds?
The Maragir Wealds shard is connected to Do Not Disturb.
Travel into the Maragir Wealds and look for the abandoned hut associated with the objective.
Search the hut and its surroundings carefully. The shard is not simply sitting in an obvious chest beside the road; the location leads you into an underground section beneath the area.
Follow the path below and continue investigating until you reach the Sword Shard.
Once you collect it, Do Not Disturb is completed as one of the three parts of Forge It Anew.
Where Is the Sword Shard in the Rockfalls?
The second Sword Shard is connected to Hostile Takeover in the Rockfalls.
Travel to the marked area and investigate the bandit-controlled location.
Unlike the Maragir Wealds shard, this part is more combat-focused. Be prepared to deal with the enemies occupying the area as you search for the fragment.
Clear the enemies that prevent you from safely exploring and search the location until you recover the Sword Shard.
Collecting it completes the Hostile Takeover portion of Forge It Anew.
Where Is the Sword Shard in St. Tyna’s Grove?
The third Sword Shard is connected to Executive Order and takes you toward St. Tyna’s Grove / The Silts.
Follow the objective into the area and investigate the location associated with the missing fragment.
This is the third possible shard location, but it does not have to be the final one you complete.
If you reach this area before visiting the Maragir Wealds or Rockfalls, you can collect this shard first and return for the others later.
Can You Collect the Sword Shards in Any Order?
Yes.
There is no required first, second, and third Sword Shard.
You can collect them in whichever order is most convenient while exploring Vale Sangora.
That is useful because the three locations are spread across different parts of the map. If another quest already takes you close to one of them, you can collect that shard instead of waiting for Forge It Anew to become your main objective.
What matters is having all three before you attempt to finish restoring St. Mihai’s Sword.
Can You Find Sword Shards Before Getting St. Mihai’s Sword?
Yes.
You can encounter and collect Sword Shards before obtaining the Broken Sword of St. Mihai.
If you find one while exploring, keep it.
You have not completed the weapon early, and you have not broken the quest. The shard will remain useful once you obtain the Broken Sword and progress Forge It Anew.
This also means players who explore heavily may already have one or more shards by the time they begin actively trying to restore St. Mihai’s weapon.
Why Isn’t Forge It Anew Complete After Finding Three Shards?
Because collecting the Sword Shards is only part of the restoration process.
After collecting all three, you still need the Broken Sword of St. Mihai.
Your progression should look like this:
- Obtain the Broken Sword of St. Mihai.
- Collect all three Sword Shards.
- Bring the sword and shards to Nareh.
- Have the weapon reforged.
- Complete the final tempering process.
- Receive the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai.
So if Forge It Anew remains active after you collect the third shard, continue with the reforging portion of the quest.
Where Do You Take the Three Sword Shards?
Take the shards and the Broken Sword to Nareh, the Uriash blacksmith at the Uriashi Hermitage in northwestern Briar Sloughs.
Nareh can reassemble the broken weapon once you have collected all of its missing pieces.
However, the reforged sword is not yet the final version.
You still need to complete the tempering ritual afterward to create the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai.
Do the Sword Shards Use Time?
Finding and picking up a Sword Shard does not mean that simply traveling around looking for it continuously drains your remaining days.
The important distinction in The Blood of Dawnwalker is between ordinary exploration and actions or quest stages that explicitly advance time.
If an interaction displays a Time Segment cost, account for it before confirming the action.
This means you can plan your shard hunt around other quests in the same regions rather than treating each Sword Shard as something that automatically consumes an entire day.
What Do You Get After Finding All Three Sword Shards?
Finding all three shards allows you to continue restoring St. Mihai’s legendary weapon.
The shards themselves are not the final reward.
Once combined with the Broken Sword and taken through the remaining Forge It Anew steps, they ultimately lead to the Imbued Sword of St. Mihai.
So if your only goal is the completed weapon, think of the three shard locations as the middle stage of the process:
