What Happens When Your Infamy Gets Too High in The Blood of Dawnwalker?

High Infamy makes the world more dangerous and inconvenient in The Blood of Dawnwalker.

As your Infamy rises, Brencis responds by issuing Edicts that make it harder for Coen to move around Vale Sangora.

These effects build up as your Infamy increases, so higher levels can mean more soldiers, higher prices, checkpoints, stronger enemies, and eventually restrictions on entering and leaving Svartrau.

There are nine Infamy levels, with a new Edict tied to each level.

The penalties become more serious as you progress. They include:

  • More patrols in settlements and on roads
  • Military checkpoints
  • Higher merchant prices
  • Soldiers recognizing and attacking Coen
  • Fewer people outside at night
  • Headhunters appearing in the valley
  • Stronger soldiers
  • Svartrau’s gates being closed

At the highest level, Svartrau’s gates are shut and you can no longer simply fast travel into or out of the city.

Not necessarily.

When your Infamy reaches a new level, the corresponding Edict is issued after an in-game day passes rather than immediately.

You will then see the new decree announced in Svartrau.

This means reaching a new Infamy level does not instantly change the world at that exact moment.

You do not need to treat Infamy like a meter that must always stay low.

Infamy is connected to disrupting Brencis and progressing through Court Activities, so some increases are part of progressing against him.

However, higher Infamy does make everyday activities more difficult.

If you know another Infamy level is coming, it can be useful to handle things like shopping or other activities first before another Edict makes the world less convenient.

The higher your Infamy gets in The Blood of Dawnwalker, the more Brencis fights back.

Each Infamy level brings another Edict, and their effects stack as you progress.

Early levels add things like patrols and checkpoints, while high Infamy brings stronger enemies, widespread recognition of Coen, Headhunters, and eventually the closure of Svartrau’s gates.

So high Infamy is not simply a number—it directly changes how difficult it is to travel and operate around Vale Sangora.
